A Família teve o seu início nos princípios do século XVII com a união de uma família Magalhães com uma família Gomes de Abreu. Ao longo de gerações consolidou-se o património do ramo Magalhães que, fixado no lugar de S. Julião, manteve a actividade agrícola da Quinta e ocupou diversas funções públicas locais como Provedor da Santa Casa da Misericórdia ou Administrador do Concelho.

As duas Famílias estão representadas nas pedras de armas apostas na fachada principal. A pedra do lado direito representa as famílias Magalhães e Abreu. É genuína. Presume-se que tenha estado colocada na casa de um familiar antes de ter sido construída a actual.

A pedra do lado esquerdo representa as famílias Magalhães, Gomes, Abreu e Costa. É cópia incorrecta de uma que representa as armas de um seu membro eclesiástico.

Actualmente descendentes directos mantêm o património recebido dos seus antepassados.

Family

The family had its beginnings starting in XVII century with the union of Magalhães family with the family Gomes de Abreu. Along some generatios the property of Magalhães’ stem strengthed, settled in S. Julião hamlet, maintained the agricultural farm activity, and positions of public high standing, such as head of a charitable institution or municipality manager.

Both families are represented in the coat of arms implanted in the main façade. The coat of arms, on the right represents the families Magalhães and Abreu. It is genuine. It is presumed that has been placed on another family house before the present manor-house was built. The coat of arms, on the left side, represents the families Magalhães, Gomes, Abreu and Costa. It is an incorrect copy of one that represents the coat of arms of an eclesiastical member of the family.

Actually lineal descendants maintain the inheritance received by their ancestors.
